Promising, young conductor, Lynn Fuller, has garnered local and international success. Dr. Fuller has appeared with the Tucuman Symphony Orchestra and the Rosario Symphony Orchestra in Argentina, and the China Dance and Opera Company Symphony Orchestra in Beijing.
Maestro Fuller has visited organizations and venues throughout South Carolina as a guest conductor. She has been a guest conductor with the Piccolo Spoleto Festival Orchestra in Charleston. Dr. Fuller visited South Carolina State University in 2007 to conduct a performance of L’Histoire du Soldat (Stravinsky). Her consecutive guest engagements with the Southcoast Symphony were distinguished by impressive Masterworks Series performances. Recently, Maestro Fuller embarked on her newest challenge, that of founder and Music Director of Queen City Virtuosi, a professional chamber orchestra in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Lynn Fuller studied conducting with Dr. Donald Portnoy at the University of South Carolina (USC), where she received the Master of Music and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Conducting. As assistant conductor of the USC Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra, she lead concerts at the university and venues throughout the state. A highlight of her duties at USC was conducting the debut performance of Kurt Weill’s The Seven Deadly Sins with the USC Symphony Orchestra and Department of Dance.
Dr. Fuller began her career as a music educator and professional violinist. She was the founder and Music Director of the Lexington Two District Orchestra in Columbia, South Carolina. Through Dr. Fuller’s commitment and vision, her student orchestras received numerous awards at music festivals throughout the Southeast. As a professional violinist, she has been a member of orchestras in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.
Maestro Fuller’s early training consisted of violin studies with Elaine Richey at North Carolina School of the Arts. She continued her training at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where she was a violin student of Sungil Lee, former Concertmaster of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and protégé of Oscar Shumsky.
